John Coble, O.D.

Dr. John Coble, OD is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist licensed in Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas, with nearly four decades of experience delivering exceptional eye care. A proud alumnus of the University of Houston College of Optometry, Dr. Coble earned his Doctor of Optometry degree in 1986 after completing his pre-optometry studies at North Texas State University.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Coble has served patients across North Texas, most recently at Key-Whitman Eye Center in Greenville. He previously held long-standing roles at Eyecare of Greenville and Hunt Regional Medical, where he became a trusted provider and mentor. Dr. Coble is a nationally recognized leader in optometry. He has held key positions in the Texas Optometric Association—including State President and Chairman Emeritus—and has been a dedicated member of the American Optometric Association since 1982 where he was Meeting Center Executive Committee Chairman for many years. His advocacy work includes serving on the AOA Federal Advocacy Committee and the Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee. A passionate educator, Dr. Coble is an adjunct professor and externship site preceptor for both the University of Houston College of Optometry and UIW Rosenberg School of Optometry. He has authored multiple publications and was honored as the University of Houston College of Optometry’s Alumni of the Year in 2005 and Commencement Speaker in 2024.

Beyond the clinic, Dr. Coble is deeply involved in civic life. He has served as President of the United Way of Hunt County, Chairman of the Texas Optometry Board of Examiners, and President of the Rotary Club of Greenville. A U.S. Army and Texas National Guard veteran, he holds the honorary title of Admiral in the Texas Navy. Dr. Coble’s accolades include being named Optometrist of the Year by both the Texas and American Optometric Associations in 2004 and receiving the AOA President’s Award in 2018.

Dr. Coble’s love for caring of patients has been very important in his career. However, swimming with his grandchildren has a high priority in his life. Dr. Coble loves golf and being outdoors joining his wife in photography outing.
